Used Car Donation – Where Do You Begin?
Despite seeming daunting and fairly complex, car donation Illinois is a fairly easy process. Obviously you will need a car or vehicle that is no longer being used, and you are actually prepared to donate to a charity group. Then you will need to consider a few things.
The two most important things to consider, and ask are as follows. Does the vehicle I want to donate require maintenance? Is it in that bad a shape to even donate? Donating a car or vehicle that needs to be repaired to a charity just to get rid of it isn’t a charitable thing to do. Giving one that’s going to fall apart in the first ten miles is even worse, so don’t do it.
Who needs the unused car the most? This isn’t an easy question to ask yourself, but vital if you want your donation to do the most good. Why should I even bother? Because there are a lot of people in need who could use a reliable vehicle. Besides, if you have one you no longer need, its just taking up space.
Which charity group should I make the donation of the car to? This is undoubtedly the most difficult question you have to ask yourself. There are a multitude of organizations that could use an operating car. Everyone from churches to outreach programs. If you feel real altruistic you could donate it to one of those groups that’s fighting world hunger, or another international disaster.
However, if none of these choices tugs your heartstrings, you could always ask neighbours.
College students can always use a functional car if they do not have one. Or you could donate it to a family member in need. Barring any of these you can also give it to a homeless person, entire families can live out of vehicle if they have to.
Now, if by some chance donating out of the kindness of your heart doesn’t appeal to you, there are incentives. Some charities will give you cash. Government programs might also give you cash, or a tax credit. However giving out of the milk of human kindness and not looking for, or taking any reward for the donation can make you look good in your community.
One of the final choices you might consider is also donating it to your city. This is a choice that will help out your town. It allows them to make use of a car without buying one. If your a person that loves his city this can be the most rewarding of choices available for a possible donation.
Just remember, there are so many groups that need a vehicle that its not funny. You can’t donate to all of them and if you attempt it you’ll get a headache. Please make sure it’s in roadworthy shape first before you donate. For the people out there that think one car won’t make a difference, trust me it will.
