Ways To Give Your Car Amp Extra Power
People who like to listen to loud music are the ones who are likely to bridge car amplifiers. By doing this the volume of the audio is increased to a great extent and also improves the clarity of the sound. More power is also provided to the speakers. We may need few things before we start doing this job . They are wrenches, pliers, wire strippers, wire rated for the amplifiers and of course the two amplifiers which we are planning to bridge.
The first step to be done before performing the task is to thoroughly check the manuals of both the amplifiers given by the manufacturer. Only the amplifiers which has got same characteristics like power etc can be bridged. If amplifiers with different power rating are bridged it may lead to malfunction or even damage to the amplifiers. Thus one should ensure that both these amplifiers have same power rating. In case there is any doubt of performing the task or in determining the match among the two it is better to drop the idea of bridging them both.
Next step is to stop the power supply to the amps. Power supply to the amps can be stopped easily by disconnecting the positive cable from the battery of the car. This should be done before any connections are made. To remove the cable we may take help of the wrenches and pliers. Power supply should be completely stopped till our work is completely done .
The amplifiers are always provided with a switch the back side. Check fir the switch and turn it to the bridge mode. This will make it possible to bridge two amps.
The insulation is then stripped for half an inch from both the ends of the wire. The wire is then connected between the two amplifiers. In one it is connected in the positive end of an amplifier and the other end is attached to the negative of the second amplifier. This is done by wrapping wire so that it surrounds the terminals. Then the knobs are screwed back to position. Generally there is colour code for the two terminals. The colours for negative and positive are black and red respectively.
The speakers and the terminals in the bridged amplifier can be connected by the wire. The positive wire is connected to the terminal which is positive and in the same way negative is connected to the negative of the speaker.
