Protect Your PC from Internet Speed Monitor and Malware in General

Malware is a term used to describe malicious programs that do damage to your computer. Internet Speed Monitor, contrary to it’s name is an example of such software. This type of program gets into your PC without your knowledge and usually installs tracking software to see what websites you are visiting so that it can bombard you with pop up ads and the like. This is the reason some malware is called spyware. Other types of malware include actual virus type programs that will use up all your system resources and slow down your computer’s performance significantly. The worst case scenario is loosing computer data.

You can protect your computer from the spyware and viruses installed by malware programs. It is necessary to protect your computer for safe web browsing and communication with others.

When acquiring anti-virus software, make sure it checks your email as well as the sites you surf on the web. You’ll need to regularly update the program so that you’re protected against the latest threats. Failing to follow this step could expose you to the newest viruses out there. Do a deep scan once in a while as well.

Another good software that is necessary for protecting your computer from malware is an Anti-Spyware. These also need to be updated regularly just like an antivirus software to be sure you are catching the most recent threats. Some of these have the ability to optimize your web browser settings to help prevent the threat of spyware programs. You should run your Anti-Spyware program often as well.

Updating your software installs additional code to the program allowing it to fight against the latest threats. It is recommended to update your anti-virus software once a week and at the same time to scan your computer for existing spyware. I personally use a program called Spybot which is both very effective and free.

Operating system updates help protect your computer. If you’re computer is not set up to download these updates automatically, it is a solid idea to do so. These security patches and mini-programs give you additional protection.

If you realize you have Internet Speed Monitor or any other malware on your computer, take the steps to remove it promptly and avoid any serious problems to your computer.
