Cash Counting Machines – What You Really Should To Know

We are so used to automatic money counting machines that we’ve almost forgotten that tellers used to count bank notes by hand. Back in the 70s, a visit to the bank was something that was going to be a painful experience because each customer in the queue would take about 25 minutes to be served. If they were depositing large sums of money, the teller would have to count every single note by hand. This manual process was toilsome, prone to errors and a big waste of time. From these frustrations came the automatic cash counting machine.

The earliest automatic banknote counting machines were mechanical devices used by the United States treasury on a very small scale to count bills. These early incarnations were put in place to reduce errors by the staff. From then we’ve had the vastly improved versions of the mid 80s and now the advanced counters we have today.

Automatic Banknote counting machines are made possible with the introduction of 3 main innovations – computers, bill detection software and precision production.

A cash counter has the ability to process bank bills with lightning speeds up to 84,000 bills per hour. Aside from speed, most currency counting machines have the added benefit of detecting counterfeits. Many more can even detect those bills that are badly damaged or mutilated, and separate them.

How do you buy an automatic money counting machine? The 1st consideration you’ll factor in will be its purpose. What do you intend to use the money counting machine for? If you are procuring for your small store where you won’t be counting so much money, you’ll only require a counter top unit. These variants will fit onto small counter tops and do not have very advanced functionality. As such they tend to be cheaper.

A department store where thousands of Dollars in purchases can occur each day will require a more heavy duty variant. If the particular store is located within city, it may require one with advanced functionality such as counterfeit note detection.

If you have to handle those situations where you handle money in different bills, you might consider purchasing a discriminator which is able to separate different bank notes in one pass. These particular counters are highly sophisticated and are more expensive.

You might want to consider counting speed and convenience as well. Some money counting machines are manufactured with a vertical feeder that feeds notes through the top and will be more appropriate for someone who has a higher seat. Horizontallly fed automatic bill counting machines process notes through the side and can be much more convenient for a user who has a low seating position.

You’ll also need to consider the machine’s display. Some bill counting machines have a single display for the clerk only. There are others that have two displays – a small one for the clerk to monitor the process and another one for the observer. These types suit banks and other places where disputes can arise or where trust is needed.

If you’re utilizing the cash counting machine in a stuffy place, you will need to purchase a machine that uses a fan and evacuates dust from the facial area of the user. These types of machines have blower units that fan all dust particles on the notes to a receptacle in the unit. These machines require pretty frequent maintenance to work well.

Automatic Money counting machine are sensitive devices. Don’t attempt to service them and always use the specified voltage. If any of your machines develops a fault, refer only to fully qualified personnel and don’t try to repair them yourself.
